Dear families,
Thank you to those of you who have reached out with information and offers of support that we can provide as a community to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Our thoughts remain with those of you personally affected by this disaster.
Organizations
We have collated a list of local, national and international organisations offering help lines, support groups and coordinating donations and have attached the list of links. We hope these will signpost you to appropriate resources and information so that you can make any individual contributions as you wish. If you know of any other organisations that are not on this list, please do let us know.
Item donation
We are aware that many of you are keen to start donating items, so we have set up a collection point at the school. We are working with a local organisation who are sending lorries to the affected region, specifically working with villages in Kahramanmaras: 46090 - Tevekkelli Koyu and Kapicam Koyu.
If you would like to donate items to this organisation, you can bring items to school from 3.30pm today until 9.30am on Friday 10th February. Please drop items at the primary reception.
Items needed:
Please note, it is very important that all items are in good, clean condition.
- Blankets
- Nappies
- Baby wipes
- Baby food
- Sanitary Products
- Canned foods
- Coats
- Winter clothes
- Sleeping bags
If possible, please package these in boxes and clearly label what they are. If you can’t do this, please bring your donations anyway and we will box them for you.
Any donations brought after Friday morning will be kept at the school until we are able to arrange another official collection.
If you wish to volunteer or help us in any way, such as packaging items, transporting items etc. please let us know.
Future support
We know that those affected in Turkey and Syria will continue to need support over the coming weeks and months, and we will continue to work with our students, staff and parents to raise awareness and offer practical support, including through fundraising. If you would like to be involved in any of this work, please let us know and we will invite you to join our efforts.
May we take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your support, which is very much appreciated.
Emma Penzer and Katie Marshall.
