Class of 2024
Fatmanaz T - UCL studying Early Childhood Education
Fatmanaz continues her studies at UCL whilst also doing some part-time teaching to gain experience. Her aim is to become a teacher.
My favourite memory of AJK is the rewards trip we had to Thorpe Park!
Melissa B - University of Westminster studying Architecture & Environmental Design
Melissa decided to remain at home whilst studying in London so she can work part time.
The people and the teachers at AJK form some of my best memories of AJK
Helin Y - King's College, London studying Politics
Helin's passion for understanding governance and ideological cross-pollination was sparked during her A-Level Politics course, where discussions provided through the support of her teachers played the biggest role in shaping her growth and academic interests.
Helin is currently working at a Law firm, as she is also focused on completing an extra year of law through a conversion course. Having previously shadowed her local MP, Feryal Clark, in parliament, she saw firsthand how deeply connected legal systems are with policy-making.
King's College gave her the opportunity to converse with amazing political figures, such as Alastair Campbell, Rory Stewart, Jeremy Corbyn, and former French President François Hollande, which further enriched her understanding of political leadership.
The ability to build connections was also strengthened through numerous political trips organised by AJK. During her free time, Helin frequently visited Kurdish community centres in London, where she had the opportunity to engage in discussions with members of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly, including the Kurdish former mayor of Diyarbakır, Osman Baydemir who is known for his activism.
My favourite memory from AJK would definitely be the Politics class trips, especially the POLECON UK Conference. It was an amazing trip, even better since I was able to share it with my closest friends.
And of course, the last minute revision sessions. Although it was hectic and stressful, the laughs and the feeling of being in it together made it all worthwhile. It’s something I’ll always remember from the many memories I had in AJK.
Class of 2023
Marian - University of Warwick studying History & Politics
This summer, Mariam will be participating in the Civil Service Internship programme and working in government for two months. It was always Mariam's dream to get this internship and she hopes this will lead to her desired career on leaving Warwick University.
I miss being in a classroom and all the memories that were made there!
Joe S - Training to be a Vehicle Body Panel Technician as part of an apprenticeship
Over the past two years, I have been diligently pursuing my training as a vehicle body panel technician at an award-winning body shop. My apprenticeship is conducted through the Volkswagen Training Group, which is renowned for being the best programme in the automotive repair industry. During this time, I have learned various forms of welding, allowing me to effectively repair high-end vehicles, including Lamborghinis and Ferraris. My hard work has not gone unnoticed; I have been recognised by Volkswagen and featured in both their magazine and the body shop magazine. Each day presents new challenges and the chance to learn cutting-edge techniques, solidifying my expertise in this specialised field.
Oxbridge
It's a moment of immense pride and joy when a student from AJK earns a place at Oxford or Cambridge. Such an achievement not only highlights their exceptional talent and dedication but also brings honour to their entire community, inspiring countless others to aim high and dream big.

Alumni Events at AJK
Many of our former students have come back to the school, not just to deliver inspiring speeches and host awards ceremonies, but also to contribute as dedicated staff members! Their return is a testament to the strong bond they share with our school community and their desire to give back.
Zaid Moustapha returned to AJK in Oct 2024, to speak at one of our KEATS Days. He talked to Year 12 students about his degree apprenticeship in ITT.
