First 'Outstanding' free school

ARK Conway, a Primary school in the ARK Schools network, has been graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted – the first Free School to secure the highest rating from Her Majesty’s Inspectors.The school was commended for its “high quality teaching that inspires and motivates all pupils to try their very best.”

Education Secretary, Michael Gove, said: “ARK Conway has demonstrated how a brilliant school, with a culture of high expectations, great leadership and inspiring teachers can be truly excellent across the board within two years."

ARK John Keats Academy, which opens to reception pupils this September and to secondary pupils in 2014, is led by Principal Jerry Collins, who was commended by Ofsted for his “outstanding vision and leadership” at his previous school Pimlico Academy. Amy Baird, an experienced school leader, will head the primary phase. 

Ms Baird said: “ARK Schools has a phenomenal reputation for our primary schools, demonstrated by our academy in Hammersmith securing the country’s first outstanding for a Free School. ARK John Keats will be every bit as dedicated to ensure our pupils have access to an outstanding education and extra-curricular activities. We want Enfield’s pupils to thrive, inside and outside the classroom.”
