As part of an Outstanding all through school, Ark John Keats Sixth Form is the final step in ensuring our students receive the highest quality education, allowing them to pursue the university pathways and careers of their choice. We offer a first-class education, supporting our pupils to develop into confident adults who will thrive as members of the global community.

We believe that excellent sixth form education should be more than securing excellent qualifications and we provide character and enrichment opportunities to ensure our students develop into community leaders who believe in their own agency to change the world for the better.

Our Programmes of Study

All of our pupils study level 3 qualifications, either a BTEC Extended Diploma or A Levels, and in addition to their timetabled lessons, all students have five tutor periods a week where they receive tailored pastoral support. All sixth form pupils also spend an hour a week studying PSHE in their weekly character lessons. This programme covers a wide range of topics from equality in society to healthy relationships.

Furthermore, all students are offered the opportunity to take on leadership roles within the school. They can do this in a variety of ways such as supporting KS3 enrichment; acting as reading mentors; volunteering in our nursery or joining our school council.

Pupil Progress

Across their A level studies, our pupils attain a value-added score of 1, giving us an Alps score of 3. Across their BTEC studies, our pupils attain a value-added score of 1, giving us an Alps score of 4. 95% of our pupils complete their key stage 5 courses.

Outcomes and Destinations

Our average A level grade is a B, with 37.5% of all grades at A* or A. 87% of our pupils achieve A*-C in the subjects, with 68.5% achieving A*-B grades. With these grades, our pupils are able to go on to some of the best universities in the country. 38% of our pupils go on to study at a Russell Group University, 51% go on to a top third University, with 77% going on to any form of University study. 4% of our pupils go on to Higher Level Apprenticeships, and 10% go directly into employment on completion of their studies.

Entry Requirements

All pupils applying to the sixth form are required to attain at least a grade 4 in English and Maths. We will endeavour wherever possible to run maths resits for pupils who attain a grade 3, however this cannot be guaranteed. Pupils who retake maths will be eligible to study on our Professional Pathways only.

Entry requirements for A levels and Professional Pathways will vary depending on subject, however:

• To study A levels, pupils require a minimum GCSE average points score (APS) of 5.5
• To study a Professional Pathway, pupils require a minimum APS of 4.0
