STEM Club have been focussing on engineering projects this half term. Taking inspiration from Felix Baumgartner’s jump from the edge of space, they designed parachutes that would help a model survive a 5 metre fall.

They worked as engineers do in real life and produced prototypes, which they then reflected upon and adapted before the competition. The parachute needed to take as long as possible to fall the distance, as well as ensure a safe landing.

The eventual winners were Joe, Samantha and Nadia, with Charles and Yagmur a close second.
