Admissions Criteria

Ark John Keats Academy is a non-selective school for local children. When we admit pupils, we prioritise children with statements of special educational needs. Then, if our academy is oversubscribed, places are offered in the following order of priority:

  • Looked after children and children who have been previously looked after
  • Children of staff at the school, only if the staff member fills a post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage (as approved by Ark Schools). (This priority is limited to no more than one place in each form of entry in any year.)
  • Children who at the time of admission have a sibling who attends the academy.
  • Children of staff (where there is no demonstrable skills shortage)
  • Children who live closest to the school by straight line distance from their home to the academy main entrance.

The academy will keep a waiting list to fill casual vacancies occurring if students leave during the year, or withdraw from a place that has been offered.
