We would like to introduce you to Tapestry - our online Learning Journey system.
Your child's learning will be documented using our online Learning Journey system. The Learning Journal contains observations we make and photos we take throughout the year, gradually building up a picture of your child's learning. Having this Learning Journey online provides an excellent opportunity for us to share information about your child's learning and achievements with you, and for you to share their achievements and interests at home with us.
Tapestry is a system hosted in the UK on secure servers. These servers confirm to very high environmental standards and are proactively managed 24 hours a day. Each Tapestry account has its own database and the code itself is developed using hack-resistant techniques. Filenames are encoded for uploaded, videos and images, making Tapestry a safe and secure on-line Learning Journey tool.
Once you have provided the school with an e-mail address we will be able to set you up with an account. By logging on with a secure username and password each half-term you will be able to view all of your children’s observations, photographs and even video from their time at Nursery and Reception (Please note each parent only has access to their own child’s Learning Journey). This will enable you to follow your child’s individual progress closely and you can reflect upon their achievements with your child. You can add comments so that we as a staff find out about which activities your child really enjoyed and the learning they get up to at home. Staff will reference your child’s learning to the EYFS profile so you will know which area of learning your child is achieving in and the age-band they were working in for that activity.
There will be an introductory tapestry meeting held by myself on Monday the 14th of November 2016 at 3:15pm in the primary hall at Ark John Keats. It is vitally important that you attend.
E-safety is extremely important to us at Ark John Keats, therefore we ask you to provide us with the following information and to sign the agreement and other information overleaf to show that you understand and will agree with our guidelines. Please return by Monday the 14th of November.
We are sure that you will love this new way of viewing your child’s achievements as much as we do!
