Inaugural Humanities Day

At the end of last term all our Year 7 pupils took part in the inaugural Humanities Day. Half of the year visited the British Museum to see and learn about some of the most important objects from the ancient world. Students were especially impressed by the huge Rosetta Stone which helped us to uncover the meaning of Egyptian hieroglyphics. However the undoubted stars of the show were the collection of Egyptian mummies, including a mummified cat and alligator! All students completed their museum booklets with the winner being Paige Phelan in Indonesia.

The next Humanities Day will be on 15th July and pupils will swap their activities to either visit the Museum or take part in school based workshops. We are all looking forward to it.    The Humanities Department
