Primary attend 'Sing Into Spring'

On Thursday 22nd February, Mr Etheridge and I were privileged enough to take our very own Professional Choir to an event run by the Ark music team called 'Sing Into Spring'.  Having spent months rehearsing, our excited Year 4 scholars took part in a full day of music making. In the morning session, we rehearsed our Autumn/Winter repertoire which consisted of three songs with very differing genres.

After a full morning of rehearsals, our 11 soprano singers took part in a song writing workshop where they worked with professional musicians to create lyrics and a melody to a song based on the theme of Autumn. The scholars then performed this song in front of all the other Ark schools that attended the event. The children were lucky enough to sing the song they had composed alongside the live house band! They then performed all three songs that they had rehearsed in the morning to conclude the afternoon.

It was an absolute privilege to attend this event as AJK's Head of Music. The children fully engaged with all of the sessions and sung their hearts out! It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and love of music and I cannot express how lucky our children are, to have attended this event. It was so well organised from start to finish. All the workshops were absolutely phenomenal and run by incredible, professional musicians. It was such an inspiring event and the children had a fantastic time, so much so that they didn't want the day to end! A special thanks must go to Mr Etheridge and our very own Ark Music Mentor, Fiona Fraser, for the countless hours of rehearsal time they have put in with the children in order to prepare them for the day.

I look forward to taking the children to many more events of this kind. We are looking to grow our Professional Choir, so if your child is in Year 3 or 4 and loves singing and performing, please encourage them to speak to myself and Mr Etheridge as we will be holding more auditions to enter the choir in the coming months.
