Key Stage 4 Enrichment

Our enrichment programme continues to extend pupils’ learning beyond the classroom, as recently pupils from our Playing Shakespeare enrichment visited the Globe in order to see ‘Romeo and Juliet’. The group were “groundlings” and were standing for the entire performance, just as many spectators did in Shakespeare’s time. Our pupils showed fantastic resilience in the way that they engaged with the performance. There were also moments of audience participation – actors ran past and shouted at the group!

Lots of pupils asked brilliant questions and applied their knowledge of the play to the performance: in particular we were impressed with Louisa, Kanary, Arthur and Lola. Also, a shout out to Anil for some very accurate map reading skills and rapid walking to get us to and from the venue on time. Pupils have described the performance as “amazing”, and said that “it showed us what the actors do throughout the play”. A final thank you to the staff members who provided our students with this amazing experience.
